The grand re-opening of the (in)famous Camellia Grill is next Friday, April 20th. One can only imagine what that line is going to look like. Dare I say that it will rival the line into the Shim Sham Club on it's last "1984" night. The Gambit Weekly hosted a charity auction for 2 coveted seats with all proceeds benefitting the Foundation for Entertainment Development and Education, Police & Justice Foundation of New Orleans and other local charities. I missed the outcome for the first auction, but the second nabbed a closing bid of $150. I'm a bit surprised that it was so low, actually. While I'm not a fan of the grill, I know that so many locals and tourists alike just love their signature dishes. Maybe everyone was buying up those Big Chief VIP tickets for Jazz Fest, instead. If you still want a chance to grab one of 29 VIP Stools on the big day, you can pay out-right $1,000 per spot. Contact Laura Carroll at 504-483-3111. Those who win spots will also be treated to souvenir gifts from Camellia Grill. Don't miss the pre-opening ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m.
